In Under the Gun, Robin Snyder looks back on some memories and highlights of his publishing going back even before the newsletter.  Gary Kato's 2024 Christmas card is featured, Stephen Bissette writes in appreciation of some of the recent print-on-demand books featuring Gill/Ditko Charlton reprints and other things, plus outlines some of his future plans.  Daryl Coats, Eric Reese and Nick Caputo also write in, and the passings of Steve Erwin and Joy Seligsohn are noted.

Barry Pearl writes about his first hand experience with comics distribution and display in his family's store in the 1960s.

A Steve Ditko essay, "The Exceptional", includes some memories of the creation of the classic AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1 back in 1964.

Part 77 of the Robert Kanigher bibliography, "The Mystery Of The Human Thunderbolt" has a look at some of the members of Easy Company featured in various DC war books from 1957.

On the cover this time is THE MODNIKS #2, the belated 1970 follow-up to the debut issue of the Gold Key series back in 1967. A page from #1 is on the backcover (artist on both unknown), and creator Gary Poole writes in with some words on his current work and past career, and provides a three page memo/outline about the series detailing the characters and concepts. 

At first I assumed this was a Monkees riff (Dell got the comics license to that show/band), but the Poole memo dates from May 1966, several months before the Monkees show/album release. Maybe it was just something in the air, post-Beatlemania. DC had their own take on the concept with the shortlived Maniaks around the same time (and the longer lasting SWING WITH SCOOTER, although the music elements didn't last long), contemporary with the Archie gang forming the band The Archies and others.

Also this issue, part 2 of a bibliography of the prolific Bill Harris, continued from the previous issue.

Also letters from Joe Frank, Darren Ford, Gary Kato and Andrezzzz xx, plus RS reviews some recent acquisitions in his library.

Call out the instigators, because there's something in the air...

Bob Cavanaugh has the second part of his "Remembering Whitman Publishing Co.", with a focus on his time working on the photo shoots for the TV comics, mostly westerns, that they were publishing, including stories of Roy Rogers, Jock Mahoney, Dick Simmons (Sgt. Preston), Gordon Scott (Tarzan), Duncan Renaldo (Cisco Kid) and others.  A photo cover of Sgt. Preston is shown on the back cover.

Part 31 of "Just Imagine", the bibliography of Paul S. Newman, finishes up 1962 and moves on to 1963, mostly work for both sides of the Dell/Western split. 1962 comes up to 281 stories, 2030 pages.

In Under the Gun, notes on the passing of Lynn Carp and William Overgard, Steve Ditko has some brief comments on Robert Kanigher's previous dissection of a Sgt. Rock script, and notes from Richard Prosch, Gavin Callaghan, Gary Kato and  D. Fenton
